Karel Havlíček is the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Minister of Industry and Trade and Minister of Transport of the Czech Republic. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague and from the PIBS at the Manchester Metropolitan University. He completed doctoral studies at the Faculty of Finance and Accounting and obtained his Doc. title at the Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Economics in Prague. He was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Crafts of the Czech Republic. He is also affiliated with the University of Finance and Administration, and has written several books on the subject of small and medium-sized enterprises and published dozens of peer-reviewed articles in the Czech Republic and abroad. In addition, he is a member of a number of advisory bodies of the government, including being Vice-Chairman of the Government Council for Research, Development and Innovation since 2018.
